The Office of International Services is excited to announce that Heidi Nam has joined our team as a Senior International Student Advisor.

Although she grew up in the United States, Heidi has personal experience being an international student herself in Seoul, South Korea. As a Korean-American, she wanted the experience of studying abroad and learning more about her own heritage and culture, which is why she chose to attend Korea University. She loved her international student experience so much that she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s in International Studies.

Throughout her time in Korea, she worked in many different positions as an English Teacher and even as a Writer/Reporter for Arirang Broadcasting Station. But she realized her true passion lies in international education and helping others. So, when it was time for her to move back to the U.S., she became an International Student Advisor as a way to use her knowledge and experience to provide guidance to others and help them navigate their own personal journeys as international students.

For over six years, she has supported and advocated for international students in different types of institutions ranging from smaller private schools like Westcliff University to larger public institutions like the University of California, Riverside. At UC Riverside, she served as a Career Empowerment Coordinator where her duties ranged from developing resources on topics such as F-1 work authorization and non-resident taxes as well as developing career development programs with the Career Center.

In her free time, she loves traveling to new places, watching movies, taking Barre/Pilates classes, and hunting for deals on home decor!

She is very excited to continue her passion for international education to support and advocate for international students here at the University of Southern California.

Please help us welcome Heidi into the Trojan Family and make her feel at home.
