J-1 Fulbright Students and Researchers — USC OIS

All new arrivals must view the J-1 Fulbright orientation video to learn about maintaining J-1 status, health insurance, travel signatures and other issues that may arise during your time at USC.

J-1 Fulbright students are required to complete Immigration Status Verification (ISV) with OIS within 15 days after they arrive in the United States to remove the OIS50 hold.

J-1 Fulbright researchers are not required to submit ISV.

USC is home to approximately 50 Fulbright students and researchers. We encourage all Fulbrighters to join the Fulbright Trojan Association. This student-based organization brings together the Fulbright community at USC and assists Fulbrighters in their new life in Los Angeles. Fulbrighters should continue to refer to the Institute of International Education or Amideast’s instructions for completing arrival reporting requirements.

OIS J-1 advising staff can only answer general questions for Fulbright students and researchers, since your SEVIS record is held with IIE Fulbright. Please inquire directly with your Fulbright advisor for immigration-specific questions.
