Alexa Argumedo has joined OIS as Intake Coordinator. In this role, she will be the first point-of-contact for student and scholars visiting the OIS front desk. A southern California native, Alexa attended Culver City High School and studied Communication Studies with an emphasis in immigration and media at the University of San Diego. She is currently a graduate student in the Postsecondary Administration and Student Affairs (PASA) program at USC and will continue her studies part-time while working at OIS.

During her undergraduate career, she worked in a fast paced, administrative environment in the Office of the Registrar where she created diplomas, enrollment and degree verifications, as well as processed confidential documents through the national student clearinghouse database. As a graduate student, Alexa worked in USC’s Kortschak Center as an academic coach, as well as in the Office of Student Programing and Commuter Services at Mount Saint Mary’s University. She enjoys working one-on-one with students and is excited to help international students achieve their goals at USC.

Alexa is a passionate advocate for affordable housing and immigrant rights and spends her free time volunteering with non-profits such as Habitat for Humanity, Border Angels, and local food banks. In the future, she hopes to continue dedicating her time to critical humanitarian causes and discovering ways to provide the necessary resources for students at USC who may be experiencing unique hardships. She wants to continue to grow as a Student Affairs professional and one day hold an executive administrator position that will allow her to have a significant impact in the policies and university processes that affect the overall college experience for all students.
