The Office of International Services is excited to announce Alexis Arellanes joined our team as International Services Intake Coordinator on April 14, 2020. Alexis will serve our students and scholars (virtually) alongside Qiuyang Zhao.

A southern California native, Alexis attended the University of San Francisco and earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Legal Studies.

Prior to joining OIS, Alexis served as an Administrative Legal Assistant at Wolfsdorf Rosenthal LLC, a busy immigration law firm in Santa Monica, CA. In her role, she was the first point of contact for foreign national clients and supported several attorneys and paralegals. She was required to stay up to date on immigration matters across a wide number of visa categories, especially in response to COVID-19.

Her experience at the law firm served to strengthen her organizational, multitasking, and customer service skills, and she looks forward to applying her knowledge and expertise when serving the international student and scholar community at USC.

Alexis has been described by friends and family as a passionate person, dedicated to defending the underdog. These traits have extended into her adulthood, driving her to advocate for equitable access to quality public education for underserved K-12 students in California through various jobs and internships. Her long-term career goal is to attend law school and specialize in immigration law, supporting underserved populations.

Alexis is a vegetarian and enjoys cooking from scratch; she’d be happy to swap recipes with fellow vegetarians. When she isn’t cooking up a masterpiece meal, you’ll find her practicing the piano (or keyboard). Please help us welcome Alexis to the Trojan Family and make her feel at home.
