If an exchange visitor plans to arrive late (more than 15 days past their DS-2019 start date), the department administrator is required to submit a Correction Request to amend their DS-2019 start and end date.
If the exchange visitor no longer plans to attend USC, the department administrator is required to submit a Cancelation Request so that OIS may cancel the visitor’s immigration record.

Correction Requests
OIS Processing Time: 10 business days
- The processing window begins on the business day following final submission to OIS.
Submission Timeline for Delayed Arrivals/Correction Requests:
If the OIS does not receive an Immigration Status Verification (ISV) submission within 15 days of the start date indicated on the Exchange Visitor’s DS-2019, a correction request is required to amend the program dates. Those attempting to enter the U.S. after their start date could be sent to secondary inspection or denied entry.
OIS requires sponsoring departments to submit a correction request to amend the program dates no later than the 15th day after the DS-2019 start date. The SEVIS record will auto close if a correction request is not filed. Please factor in additional time for the preliminary step indicated below.
